❤️ iTutorGroup Connects Us ❤️
🎉 We are back with our Where in the World are iTutorGroup Teachers series! 🎉
And we have our very special guest Loretta with us today.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your hometown?
My name is Loretta Marcoux Dunnaway from Dallas, Texas, USA. Most people think of Texas as the “wild west” but, since moving here in the early 80’s, aside from developing an appreciation for the heritage of western cowboy lore, I have found many other areas of interest.

My Family
I love music and am grateful for our Arts District. Specifically, two world famous concert halls, The Meyerson Symphony Hall and the Bass Performance Hall are in the area. One place I frequent is the Dallas Museum of Art. The Meadows Museum on the Southern Methodist University campus and the Crow Collection of Asian Art are also impressive to me. Visitors may find the Dallas World Aquarium and the Perot Museum of Science worth the stop. Dallas is a shopping mecca with the Market Center and the Highland Park Shopping Center being the first shopping center in the USA. Better take your wallet! I prefer the myriad of discount shops and once had my own shopping tour business.

Singing at the Jazz Club

Dallas Texas USA
I also, tried my hand at songwriting and developed a love of jazz. Live music is plentiful in Dallas due to the proximity of The University of North Texas School of Music. Many gifted graduates married, had families, and simply never left. I’m sure glad for that!

I have loved teaching all my life. My first experience was as an elementary music teacher. I taught for the Department of Defense in Japan. After fifteen years of music teaching, I returned to school to study Systems Analysis and became a secondary computer teacher. Being a lifelong learner has always been important to me.
Recently, I completed my Masters in Professional Development and an additional 15 graduate hours in English and Reading. This summer I will finish my Master Reading Teacher certification courses. No matter the field, technology has always played a valuable part in my teaching. In the early 80’s, I remember telling students I hoped one day that they would be able to communicate “real time” with people from anywhere in the world through the Internet.
Now, because of this opportunity to teach for iTutorGroup, I feel that I have gone full circle as a teacher. Once again, I can teach in the Orient and my dream of online learning for students has become a reality.
What’s Healthy?
I try my best to keep my mind active and above all, interact with people. iTutorGroup not only connects me with intelligent teachers and students, it keeps me on point with my goal of being a lifelong learner. There are ongoing professional development opportunities offered free of charge allowing me to continue to grow as an educator. Being part of an international online company not only enriches my life from a professional standpoint but, helps me stay healthy socially and emotionally as I experience the rich cultural exchange in this diverse global village called “Earth”.
I may be just one person here in Dallas, Texas, but, together we can make a difference in our own lives and the lives of many people through connecting our personal world with people all over the world. Education is our commonality. Indeed, I have learned so many things by teaching for iTutorGroup. I learn from my students, peers and leaders. There is no generation gap!
I would love to teach as long a possible. When I’m no longer camera ready, how about an Avatar: Meet Teacher Ling Xiaoyu 😉
An Unforgettable Experience with iTutorGroup
I have often thought that having a sense of humor was one of the most valuable tools for motivating students, albeit, just for getting along in this “crazy” world. One day, a student began staring at me through binoculars. All sorts of things ran through my mind. Had this genius invented his own version of the Hubble Telescope?? Then, the sense of humor kicked in. Quickly, I went to ManyCam and displayed my graphic of binoculars. I began to stare back at the child through my binoculars. We both broke into laughter. We had bonded through humor. I had the student in the palm of my hand.
In closing, iTutorGroup and the entire online field of education is in it’s infancy.
Who among us will impact it’s growth?
I am striving to refine not only the “science” but, the “art” of online teaching.
A special thanks to Loretta ♪(^∀^●)ノ

Oops! There’s a grammatical error in there. Who can help Loretta out and find it?

Yes, Betty. Fix it. I had an English teacher friend proofread. We won’t tell her.:)

It’s such a beautiful thing to read stories about the journeys each one of us has made, leading up to teaching for iTutorgroup. I identify with a lot of these experiences and what you’re saying about the importance of lifelong learning is really valuable. That’s what iTutorgroup has been for me for the past year almost! 🙂
Yes. I often marvel at the fact that if I were to look back even a year, I would never have known where I would be today. A friend once told me, “Never look back.” Good advice, I think. Best, Loretta
