We are back with our Where in the World are iTutorGroup Teachers series!🎉
And we have our very special guest Jeffrey with us today.
Tell us a little bit about you and your hometown!
Hola! I am Jeffrey Procter born in Manchester England but live here in a beautiful part of Mexico.
Manchester is a beautiful city in the north of England but Puerto Vallarta in Mexico is a paradise, I love living in the sun and having the beach and mountains within walking distance, spending my time at the beach, swimming in the Pacific ocean or hiking in the mountains in my free time.
I studied computers in college and also taught people on how to deal with computers and have patience, teaching English is similar in that you need to have good patience and understanding of the students needs, like reviewing the comments from previous teachers before the lesson to get an understanding of the students abilities.
Tell us a little bit about where you teach!
Manchester is a beautiful city in the north of England but Puerto Vallarta in Mexico is a paradise.
I moved to mexico because I had lived in a cold country for many years and like the heat. I love living in the sun and having the beach and mountains within walking distance, spending my time at the beach, swimming in the Pacific ocean or hiking in the mountains in my free time.
Mexico is nothing like you see on the news or hear from people, I have lived here 15 years and never seen the violence that is published on news channels, it is quiet, peaceful, friendly people, the culture is very interesting and life is great with no stress.
I love the beachlife and swimming in the ocean walking along the beach, hiking in the mountains as I am 20 minutes from the mountains and 20 minutes from the beach, I like listening to a variety of music and watching films, I love helping people and especially mixing with the local people and learning more about their culture. Also another reason for moving here was the love of history of the Mayan people.
What should the world know about Mexico?
Well, Mexico is not like you would hear on the TV about drugs and gangs, it is calm and peaceful and has lots of history and sites to visit, Mayan pyramids including the well known and famous Chichen Itza (one of the seven wonders of the World).
Friendly people, cafes, restaurants and Mexico is famous for its tequila and tacos.
I would put Mexico as one of the most beautiful places to have a vacation, with comfortable living and lots of culture.
How did you get started with iTutorGroup?
I have been teaching with iTutorGroup since December 2018 and enjoy giving my English experience to the people of Asia.
As for iTutorGroup I found it through Indeed.com a job searching website, I decided that it would be great to give my English experience to people that want to learn a second language, as I know the struggles of learning a second language from learning Spanish myself, when teaching I try to give my own personal experiences and advice on additional ways of learning like a website that students can help practice their words or listening to music and watching television in English.
I have a hand puppet animal I use for the younger kids and even have a panda on my wall where my iTutor sign is so that I can have fun with the younger kids. Knowing that the students are happy with me, I do intend to develop ahead in the company and make the next move to a senior consultant, iTutorGroup is a great company and I hope one day to visit Taiwan and see the offices and meet the people behind the company. One reason for teaching was choosing my hours that suit me that gives me my free time yet earning a great income and working from home.
Any advice for those who would like to teach from abroad?
For people who are interested in teaching English as a second language to people in Asia I would suggest do it, it is fun and you choose your hours around your life, you will be surprised at how easy it is to do and the enjoyment and satisfaction you feel after doing a class and filling in the student report knowing that they have enjoyed the lesson, had fun and gone away knowing a little more English that you have personally taught them.
A special thanks to Jeffrey!
And Happy Birthday 🎂！
